Tours

Tour 1: Guided tour of Old Sachsenhausen

This district of Frankfurt invites you to explore the narrow, cobbled alleyways and historic half-timbered houses. The cider taverns are a great place to linger. Here you can try the “Ebbelwoi”, which is so popular with the people of Hesse. Take courage!

The famous Frankfurt Museum Mile is famous beyond the city limits and even beyond Germany's borders. The Städel Museum, the German Film Museum and the Liebighaus are just a few examples. Cafés and restaurants invite you to take a break in the gardens.

The first written mention of Sachsenhausen can be found in the deed of gift of Emperor Henry VI from 1193. Sachsenhausen remained a village until the end of the 19th century and was a supplier of fish, fruit and vegetables for the city of Frankfurt.

Wine and beer were the preferred beverages in the Middle Ages, but in the middle of the 16th century a change in climate in the Rhine-Main region meant that tasty wine could no longer be produced. In Goethe's time, the original wine-selling Häckerwirtschaft (a seasonal inn) was transformed into the Fichtekränzi (a wreath made from spruce branches) serving cider. This symbolizes in Frankfurt and the surrounding area that cider is served here.

After the tour, there is an opportunity to refresh yourself at cost price in the well-known “Dauth-Schneider” cider tavern.

Tour 2: UNESCO World Heritage Site Mathildenhöhe

In 2021, the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt was included in one of 51 World Heritage Sites listed in Germany...and rightly so. I quote: “Prerequisites for its inclusion on the World Heritage List are, above all, its outstanding universal value, its integrity and the guarantee of ensuring their protection.

After the official tour and until the return to Seeheim, it is a good idea to visit one of Darmstadt's most beautiful parks, the “Park Rosenhöhe”. A special feature of this park is the rosarium with more than 1000 roses. Also worth mentioning are the tea house, the impressive mausoleums and tombs of the Hessian royal family ... and much more. Let yourself be inspired!

Tour 3: Double tour covered wagon ride and guided tour of the town of Zwingenberg

Everyone talks about slowing down...and that's how it works:

While one half of the group explores the oldest town in the Hessian part of the Bergstrasse under expert guidance (the town charter was granted in 1274 (!)), the other half of the group enjoys the countryside in a pleasant way with a covered wagon ride including wine tasting.

After 1½ hours, there is a change of scenery and everyone gets their money's worth.

Tour 4: Round trip on the Neckar, Heidelberg sightseeing tour

Heidelberg is a city of favorite places. Let yourself be whisked away on this 50-minute round trip along the picturesque Neckar river on a very special kind of sightseeing tour. The tour takes you past some of the city's most beautiful sights. Enjoy the view of the impressive Heidelberg Castle, the old bridge and much more while enjoying a free drink.

On this tour, you will learn interesting facts about Heidelberg's rich history and culture while you relax and drift along the river. Before returning to Seeheim, you will have the opportunity to take a stroll through the old town of Heidelberg. For the more adventurous of you, a ride on the mountain railroad (runs every 10 minutes) is an option. The departure point is Kornmarkt in the heart of the old town. There is a choice:

- Castle ticket/ train (Kornmarkt - castle - Molkekur)

Admission to the castle courtyard, barrel cellar and apothecary museum are included.

Round trip fare, € 9.00 per person*.

- Königsstuhl ticket (Kornmarkt - Molkekur - Königsstuhl)

Round trip fare, € 10.00 per person*.

- Panorama ticket (Kornmarkt - Castle - Molkekur - Königsstuhl
